LUBBIN'
GRADUATION PROJECT
For my graduation project I was asked by Kaliber Interactive to think of a solution for ‘phubbing’. Phubbing is the act of snubbing someone in a social setting by looking at your phone instead of paying attention to them.
After extensive research, I discovered that, ironically enough, this problem could be solved by an app! So that’s why I designed one, called Lubbin’. This app rewards you and your friends when you decide to put away your phones during a social event, and pay attention to each other instead.
You and your friends can choose a prize of your choice from the app, These include discounts on festival tickets or a free drink in the local pub. Mostly things that encourage you to do stuff together.
A Lubbin’ session can take place when you are at least with one other person. When you all start one, you have to stay within the app. This means you cannot leave the app to check a WhatsApp message or quickly scroll through your Instagram feed: that means it’s game over and none of you will receive a reward.
Encourage each other to stay off that phone, and let’s win that prize!
